    • Organised Play Associate - Premier Events
      • Jul 2019 - May 2021

      • Negotiated contracts and tournament licenses for ~10 events per year across Europe.• European Regional events roughly doubled in attendance during my time as an event coordinator, from ~500 attendees per event to ~1,000.• Staff management for teams of up to 200 for all of our largest events globally.• Onsite operations for global events of up to 8,000 attendees.• Administered local-level video game circuit play, across ~400 independent organisers in ~40 countries, and larger community-led events in Latin America and South East Asia.• SME for digital products, particularly our core RPGs.A key project I took lead on was the shift of VG Organised Play to the title Pokémon Sword & Shield. For the first time in a core Pokémon RPG, this game featured a LAN mode, which we would be using at our largest events. Taking a networking setup proposed by the developers, I made adjustments to streamline it for our own events; sourced the hardware required for events globally; produced documentation and led remote training sessions on the new process; worked with local organisers on the first week of launch to gather data; and travelled to three continents in the space of five weeks to oversee rollout at some of the biggest live events we've ever run. From the first live test surrounded by a tangle of cables on the floor of our Latin America Championships in Brazil, to successful activation in Bochum, Germany with over 400 players, it was a complex and challenging project to lead but ultimately incredibly rewarding watching the growth of our VG program.
