As a Direct Support Professional I worked alongside a group of adults with varying mental and/or developmental disabilities helping them gain the skills and knowledge to become independent community members. This involved teaching and supporting a variety of life skills such as volunteering at numerous sites, navigating common public areas such as the grocery store or library, and/or practicing cleaning and cooking. As a Behavioral Health Professional I worked one-on-one as a mentor to children with varying mental, developmental, and/or behavioral disabilities. This included planning fun and interactive activities while equipping them with the knowledge to interact appropriately with others and within the community. Show less

After completing many trainings and tests I worked right hand to the Doctors in the Emergency Department documenting medical records in real time. I worked to decrease door-to-provider times and increase the time the doctors spend with their patients by accelerating the speed of documentation into the medical record. A strong knowledge of medical terminology was required. I worked in numerous residential settings for clients with a wide variety of individual needs. I provided quality community health and social services for adults affected by cognitive or developmental disabilities, behavioral or mental health challenges, cerebral palsy, or acquired brain injuries. These duties included transporting clients to and from appointments, keeping a safe and comfortable living area, and assisting with basic needs such as eating and bathroom care.
