I had the pleasure of being Kavya's mentor during her internship with Tesco Controls. Kavya has been very successful in her ability to learn quickly, adapt to new challenges, and use her resources effectively. She is able to keep tasks moving forward with minimal direction and she asks the right clarifying questions when she gets stuck. At Tesco, project and task priorities are always changing and Kavya has taken it all in stride by re-shifting her priorities as needed depending on department workload and team requirements. Kavya has a great attitude and work ethic and has demonstrated a passion for learning the underlying theory of why things work rather than just accepting them. Overall she is a talented professional that would be a strong addition to any engineering team.

I prepared 7 EDC (Electrical Distribution & Controls) and FI (Field Instrumentation) submittals for customer and reviewing engineer. I read and interpret contract specifications to design control schematics, panelboard schedules, layouts/elevations, 120VAC/24VDC power distribution, 480VAC three-line diagrams, PLC I/O drawings in AutoCAD Electrical. I then assembled submittal packages with comment letter, electrical drawings, bill of materials, and annotated component datasheets. Notable projects: - Updated power distribution, safety, and I/O circuits in PLC panel - Re-designed lighting control system logic & video surveillance panel layout for space reduction - Assisted in designing elevation and three-line drawings for utilities, metering, and ATS panels - Responsible for selection and verification of all field instrumentation in project. Practiced regular vendor communication & internal department coordinatiom. Show less

      - As the Solo Entrepreneur of The Make Box, I developed a website for creative and hands-on STEAM projects. - I organized two-week engineering summer camps where students learn how to design, code, and assemble their own robotics kit through online classes. - Continued engagement with a group of 10 enthusiastic students in assembling unique robotics projects for three consecutive summers.

I hosted weekly hands-on workshops and organized yearly projects to encourage exploration and innovation in art, science, and technology. I led a team of 15 passionate students to design, prototype, and assemble SnapBots: 3D-printed robotic cubes that snap together to assemble an interactive, modular robot. We showcased our project at the 2019 Bay Area Makers Faire; won the Editor’s Choice Award, awarded to 10% of 800 exhibits.
