My current role is multifaceted but is best described as a holistic support role for SIM missionaries in the field, together with key financial support of Australian business operations. For field staff I am responsible for countries in East Africa, South Africa, parts of East Asia and Sri Lanka. Support of field staff turns on the contractual (support) agreements which define all financial and other metrics required to adequately support individuals and families working overseas. These agreements are put in place before anyone starts working offshore and are then reviewed annually. I am responsible for liaising with field staff in the countries for which I am responsible, and negotiating each of these agreements which address such things as: • Allowances • Housing • Tax • Superannuation • Resettlement (thinking ahead) • Ministry • Passage The agreements requires analysis of the previous years actuals as we plan a forecast which can be as long as four years. The agreements are consulted monthly and reviewed annually between myself and the field staff. Off the back of the agreements my daily work requires me to monitor and maintain the cashflow supporting our field staff. Ensuring our offshore staff have proper cashflow supporting their activities is key to my role. This is a daily management responsibility but it is reviewed on a weekly and monthly basis. It requires me to ensure field and headquarters compliance with relevant international and local policies and guidelines, and a close watch on disbursements and reimbursements. In support of that cashflow management I am responsible for ensuring all transactions are journal-ed and posted in a regular cycle of work that requires transaction records be up to date each month. Other support responsibilities include managing travel insurance, health insurance claims for all staff, along with all other insurances for the organisation. I am responsible for handling our BAS, domestic payroll and superannuation.

This was a very customer centric job and I enjoyed and excelled in creating client loyalty, focusing on ensuring we had strong repeat business. I was responsible for running day to day business operations, all bookings, had oversight of the business accounts and the account management of select business clientele.
