Pink is a color that feels like love (Stamp Gallery, University of Maryland, 2018): Through an auric use of color, these artists express what specific bodies of history feel like, rather than what we may see or experience in the physical world around us. Through this avenue, issues of exclusion and historical omission undeniably come to light. Artists include Brandon Dean, Delano Dunn, and Damien Davis. Let me look at you (Arlington Arts Center, Curator’s Spotlight Recipient, 2017): This exhibition features work by artists who deal with the relationship between power and the body. By outlining our fragility, and the body’s vulnerability to both physical and emotional violence, these works dissect structures of authority according to race, gender, sexuality, and socio-economic position. Artists include Brandon Dean, Caitlin Rose Sweet, Andria Morales & Damien Davis, Aaron McIntosh, and Allana Clarke. Show less
