Provide 2nd and 3rd level technical support for all midrange critical call processing systems in clustered/non-clustered environments. These systems provide services which included 800 calling, vnet, operator services, intelligent call routing systems (call center), and Interactive Voice Response systems. Verizon platforms run a mix of operating systems including Open VMS, Digital UNIX, Linux, Tru64, and Windows. These utilize an array of communications protocols including x25, TCP/IP, UDP, VIOP, SIP, SNMP, and SS7 messaging as well as highly specialized vendor and internally developed applications to support the unique requirements of telecommunications services and business solutions. Duties include daily operation and trouble shooting for Verizon's products and intimate knowledge of their application and alarming infrastructure. Supervise and train new engineers ensuring all platforms meet Verizon operational standards. Test and install software patches and perform post install analysis of performance. Act as a department liaison with customers, lab, development groups, systems test, and department peers to resolve all problems. Oversee scheduling of software and hardware upgrades, research and document defects, define performance metrics to assess product reliability and availability. And drive all identified defects to resolution to meet company and customer SLAs. Show less
