Katy is a knowledgeable, supportive and approachable person and a fantastic colleague! I met Katy whilst working at Irwin Mitchell and as my line manager, Katy was always extremely supportive and gave me great advice around my future development. I always felt my concerns were taken seriously and Katy encouraged me when I had doubts about my work which meant a lot to me. Being an experienced BA, Katy was an excellent mentor and helped me with writing user stories and acceptance criteria and other work I wanted feedback on. We also worked together as BAs when our projects aligned and Katy’s transparent and direct approach was especially valued.

Having previously spent several years in legal practice as a successful fee earner, I took the opportunity to move into IT in 2016 as a Business Analyst. Key duties included eliciting and gathering requirements from stakeholders, documenting requirements as user stories with acceptance criteria, producing a BRD, proposing possible innovative solutions, closely supporting the development and testing during the SDLC, leading showcases and User Acceptance Testing, being involved or leading workshops / training / presentations, providing a link between the business and the development team. The most successful project I worked on was to design, develop and implement a conveyancing quote calculator to allow the intake team to provide an instant accurate conveyancing quote to a prospective client. This calculator could also be embedded in the company website to allow the client to obtain a quote independently. There were many obstacles during this project including key stakeholders leaving the business, stakeholders providing solutions instead of requirements and technological challenges. I steered and managed the squad through these obstacles resulting in a very successful implementation which increased client retention, client satisfaction and streamlined the conveyancing intake process. As this employer adopted the RIG model, I experienced working on both ‘Run’ and ‘Improve’ work streams prior to moving on to larger projects under the overall business strategy and ‘Grow’. My final project involved merging two legal firms into one Alternative Business Structure, which involved rebranding, case management changes, digital changes whilst also considering financial and structural changes. Many of my projects have involved software changes to current systems, case management workflows and integration with new solutions.I have experience in the Atlassian products Jira and Confluence and I am competent in BPMN.
