I was a student researcher for my organic chemistry professor Dr.Herati where I participated in the synthesis and characterization of chitosan derivatives as possible non-viral gene therapy agents. The intention of the research is to see if the synthesis of chitosan derivatives and ligands will increase DNA complexation and solubility to promote it's biomedical application as a gene delivery agent.
