Also organized inital year long program planning guides, as well as tracking sheets to monitor for following years and improve performance at key sites and/or in key areas. Unpaid AmeriCorps position focusing on reminding the parties involved of the issues surrounding the causation of poverty and ways to tackle it rather than continuously repeat the cycle, i.e. repeating the same tactics that have not been significantly or long-term effective over the past 50 years.

Rock and Worship is a cross-country annual roadshow. When in the Southern California area, I volunteered primarily with merchandising--setting up bands' t-shirts, compact discs, posters, buttons, guitar picks/drumsticks and other collectible souvenirs and memorabilia.Cash sales and credit card transactions took place throughout the night, including peak times of having as many as 50 customers with only 3 cash boxes and credit card machines. Other tasks included matching as many as 6 sizes of shirts with 5-10 designs and assisting customers in selection.I also volunteered after the show to strike down the display. This included inventory counts of remaining merchandise, cash counts, running money to final delivery area, and re-packing all remaining inventory.

I worked with 2.5-3 year old students initially, followed by the 4-5 year olds, and then finishing with the 3-4 year olds.This included assisting Mentor and Master Teachers, playground supervision, setting up indoor activities, snack preparation, clean-up, lesson plan development and implementation, and assisting with parent sign-out.One project consisted of shadowing a student for the day in an indirect manner and then creating a case report and case presentation in a lecture course. Another project included creating the curriculum for the entire day, in which the Mentor and Master Teachers assisted me.

Senior Tutor for Kindergarten and First Grade students in a program grant-funded to reinforce mathematics and science in fun and creative (i.e. child-approved) ways. Activities I created and led included Dinosaur Dig--digging up (play) dinosaur skeletons as archaeologists do; Making Music--introducing them to music in numerous world cultures, as well as uncovering how science and math are a part of music; and Culture Awareness--where we looked at select world cultures including examples of their arts, writing, and math.I also encountered the opportunity to work with children as they grieved the sudden loss of a teacher. During this experience I recognized that I was more interested in the health and well-being of children than their performance on standardized and placement tests.

Richards; scene designer Duane Gardella; technical director Robert Norberg; and make-up director Carol Whaley.I also assisted backstage as needed with Jazz Live productions.

I served as a Residential Counselor at a summer camp. My ability to work with young children was utilized with most of the weeks working with the Brownie-aged campers (1st through 3rd grades). I also served as the Medic Counselor for each of the 8 weeks of camp, and as a kitchen assistant during a weekend program titled "Daddy and Me."Themes included a Theatre week and an Environmental Sciences week (junior high aged students); the format included letting the campers brainstorm as a group on Monday any and all camp activities they desired to complete during the week, and then implementing as many as reasonably possible along with the camp's theme. Camping under the Stars occurred weekly, along with two hikes to a sister camp for the use of the swimming pool. Table manners and scheduling were also reinforced. This was also a time of transition for the older scouts, as new changes were introduced and feedback taken into consideration.
