Currently involved in Project Development for the lowest cost platform for high value, carbon negative products.Cvictus Enhanced Hydrogen Recovery (EHR) technology will provide not only the 'greenest blue' hydrogen, but liquid hydrogen carriers like ammonia and methanol, and ultimately single cell protein (SCP) which will offset the animal feed and forage destruction of global forests.

      • Jul 2020 - Jan 2021

In a BioTalent Placement position, I worked within the Cv̄ictus team to progress the vision for a high-impact, net carbon negative livestock and aquaculture feed manufacturing facility in Alberta, that will help restore forests, reduce atmospheric CO2 levels, replenish oceans and nourish a growing world population. Cv̄ictus will produce single cell protein (SCP) to replace common sources of feed protein that have a massive environmental footprint via an integrated process to produce syngas and sequester CO2. Hydrogen-rich syngas will be produced through proven proprietary underground coal gasification technology and converted to methanol to feed the growth of SCP. CO2 captured from the process will be collected and injected back underground for permanent storage. Show less

Worked in both the Air Quality and Regulatory teams assisting our clients with environmental assessments and regulatory strategy and applications. I primarily contributed to air quality dispersion models and assessments for existing and proposed facilities, including non-routine flaring. At Matrix I had the opportunity to share skills and work between departments, fostering my continued learning and contributing to my professional development. Worked within a small but passionate team at Glenrinnes Distillery to produce, promote and distribute Eight Lands Organic Spirits. Proud to have been a part of this project throughout the commissioning of the facility to the launch and distribution of our Organic gin and vodka. Eight Lands award winning products are produced with Speyside spring water, distilled and bottled onsite. I was directly responsible for spirit production and processing with a hand in all day-to-day activities and events at the distillery. My professional time at Glenrinnes Distillery expanded on the knowledge gained through my MSc. and provided the opportunity to experience all aspects of starting-up and running a distillery. Beyond routine operation of a 1,000 L pot still and two 10-stage distillation columns with auxiliary steam generator, chiller units, and semi-automatic packaging line, I was a critical member in implementing a stock management system and collection of Standard Operating Procedures which warranted accreditation by Scottish Organic Produce Organization (SOPA) and Safe and Local Supplier Approval (SALSA). • MSc Project - Gin Product Development
      • Jan 2018 - Aug 2018

The MSc course provided me with an in-depth understanding of the scientific principles behind brewing, fermentation, distillation and maturation with an appreciation for the raw materials and technology throughout the process. I had the great opportunity to partner with Edinburgh Gin for my MSc project to develop a new commercial gin recipe while being directly mentored by Head Distiller, David Wilkinson. The project involved botanical research, recipe development, weekly lab-scale gin production, sensory panel testing, and scale-up. My dissertation focused on the impact of a specific novel botanical on final organoleptic properties of the gin. This experience working with Edinburgh Gin helped to solidify my passion for the sensory analysis and evaluation of spirits and allowed me to gain specific skills in gin product development and an understanding of organoleptic diversity. At Matrix I had the opportunity to move between departments through the professional rotation program. I continuously worked with the pre-development group contributing to Environmental Impact Assessments and additional government approval documents for our clientele. Most notably in this team I was involved as an assistant project manager for a multi-million dollar government approval project through which I developed a strong understanding of managerial responsibilities. This was a multi-disciplinary environmental assessment in which I was responsible for program coordination, budgeting and tracking, client interaction, in-house logistics and technical report editing. I was a member of the Physical Hydrogeology group for approximately 2 years contributing to groundwater monitoring, well installation, resource delineation and aquifer testing programs. I worked heavily as an onsite geological core monitoring in numerous summer and winter drilling programs at a northern Albertan open-pit oil sands mine. This experience provided me with hands on technical experience and an ingrained safety-first attitude. From 2014 onwards I was responsible for field lead duties providing leadership and support for the logistics and safety of the team. Most recently I was part of the Air Quality team, responsible for generating background emission inventories, calculating source emissions and conducting air quality dispersion models and assessments including non-routine flaring. I have experience with both AERMOD and CALPUFF dispersion modelling programs. I was also given opportunities to explore related disciplines through remote field work (soil & vegetation assessments, contaminated site assessments, spill response, etc.). Most notably, I was involved in a large-scale, high-profile petrochemical spill response, responsible for logistics and management of the surface water quality field crews and communications with client incident command personnel.
