At Oakland High School, I work with a diverse group of young leaders from all over the world. The school’s demographics are 39% Asian, 38% African American, & 21% Hispanic which makes our cultural competency and community values strong. The students are optimistic, interested in the world around them, and determined to create a better future. I have noticed that the unique barriers to education, that each student negotiates, are part of what makes these scholars and their success so special. I create equity-based curriculum development that meets the various needs of English Language Learners and IEP’s. I collaborate with colleagues to create project-based curriculum across subjects. I developed in-class behavior management techniques that provide students a safe classroom and organized field trips and college prep internships. Show less

Designed and taught three full-time classes at New Vista High School which integrated multiple forms of technology and subject matter including history, psychology, and biology. Classes taught included Foundations of Writing, Shakespeare Video Production, and World Literature: Mysteries, Monsters, and the Supernatural.
