Wiser is a home for young people who dream big and expect more; an environment where creative meets recruitment to build and transform employer brands. As part of the Wiser Academy, I actively promote graduate opportunities to students at Bournemouth University for clients including Just Eat, Deutsche Bank, Colt, Sky Betting and Gaming, Fidelity International and Worldpay. Capitalising on my extensive campus network by reaching out to different societies, clubs and student groups, I encourage students from all different backgrounds and courses to consider a career with some of the world’s best brands. I will undertake this role during my final year studies.

After entering a competition run by Bright Blue Day to submit a creative CV, myself and two other students won the opportunity to gain experience of the internal workings of an agency for one week. We were given an activity pack which included briefs that reflected the usual tasks that the agency would be expected to complete. The tasks ranged from blog writing to recreating an existing brands logo. During the week I received constant feedback as to what could be included in my tasks and therefore broadened my understanding of the way in which an agency works. I worked closely with the client services team and learned about the responsibilities and processes of the Tech, Creative and also the Content and Social media teams. They published a blog post on their website that I wrote about award-winning campaigns.

I completed two years working on the Computer Animation Arts degree. I learned skills across programs such as...* Maya* Mari* Nuke * Mudbox * Modo I developed my skills in animation, 3D modelling and texturising. However due to conflicting interests I decided that this course was not suited to me. I decided to pursue a different course that would be better suited to my strengths. I had one week worth of work experience with this company. I learnt to use a software called Modo which I have not learnt to use at university. I created a model of a dragon and used the presets to create two different textured dragons. I was also taught how to use Mudbox effectively. I created an older gentleman's face using the sculpting skills I have learnt that week. I was able to see how and advertising company deals with tight deadlines and the diverse array of work they are able to create.

At Nuffield Health I was able to experience how the communciations team worked and what their roles and responsibilities are. I was given the task of identifying health related articles in magazines and newspapers to assist Nuffield in understanding what type of stories interest the readers. I also worked with the marketing team who were reponsible for the content of the Nuffield Health website. This allowed me to do research for myself on certain topics to condense the information and include it on the website in a style that would attract viewers to read that information.

I worked with the marketing department which allowed me to understand the in depth planning they need to do and what sort of things they organise and are responsible for. I also worked with the design department which helped me understand the ways in which they create ideas and designs for different occassions for their food products. It also allowed me to see how they create templates of design to run parellel with the season or occassion associated with that time of year. Within the design department they had a simulation program which allowed you to analyse where on the shelf the product looks the most effective. This is where my inital interest for digital animation and creation was created.
