  I am a part of a team that works with first year graduate veterinary students to help them prepare for their journey as military veterinarians. I run anesthesia for surgery, perform dental prophylaxis, draw blood, run blood work, perform other laboratory work, and take vitals on appointments and report the history to the doctor. In this position I get to work with privately owned animals, military horses, and military dogs.   My job played a vital role in our patient's care. I was tasked with doing STAT referrals to the surrounding hospitals, and sending referrals to specialty clinics. This involved getting approval from insurance companies, making sure the offices accepted the patient's insurance, and sometimes setting up appointments. Client care and communication was a large part of this job, and I found it very fulfilling to help others in their time of need. My job played a vital role in our patient's care.   I was the head MRI technician in a busy veterinary surgical practice. When I wasn't running an MRI I could be found in the OR scrubbed into surgery alongside the surgeon, or transcribing the surgery. Helping intubate patients, take x-rays, place urinary catheters, administering medications, cleaning surgical equipment, and speaking with clients about their patients and recovery were also my day to day duties.
