  The Artonauts are a collective of 2 middle school art educators. ​ While teaching middle school we have found that resources that exist are either too advanced (high school age), or not challenging enough (geared toward elementary). We saw a gap in middle level art resources, so set out to create our own. Artonaut curriculum is a middle-school (6-8) art curriculum based on the new data-driven, reflective, rigorous National Common Core Visual Arts Standards. Our resources help build a foundation in The Elements of Art & Design while promoting revision, self-reflection and a way to quantify assessments that help create a data-driven art room! By adding Rigor to the Art Room we not only create lessons that help with the basics of art curriculum, but push our students creatively. We embed art history, art critique and discussion to push your artists to the next level! The Artonaut team not only sells curriculum designed for middle school art success, they also are available to give dynamic Professional Development on adding Rigor to the Art Room!

  Sole counselor providing academic, personal, and social support to 450+ public high school students. Provide post-secondary career and college counseling. Coordinated and supervised a Career Day for students with local professionals speaking about their education and careers. Implemented Education and Career Action Plans (ECAPs) for the class of 2013 and beyond. Arrange visits to the school with representatives from colleges such as St. John’s University, Cornell College, Penn State, U.S. Naval Academy, Wellesley College, Oregon State University, Clark University and others. 504 Plan site coordinator—coordinate with faculty, staff, and parents to provide accommodations for students with disabilities. Administer standardized tests such as the PSAT/NMSQT, Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB), Arizona Instrument to Measure Standards (AIMS), and Advanced Placement (AP) Program Exams.   Researched, wrote, and taught art lessons for 270+ 9-12 graders in an introductory level art class. Aligned lessons with current state and national educational standards. Utilized the Discipline Based Art Education (DBAE) approach to curriculum development. Ordered and prepared art materials while staying on budget, maintained and managed classes of 30+ students, established consistent classroom procedures, developed 5 trait rubric for grading major art projects. Planned and organized annual end-of-the-year art show for all visual arts classes, in collaboration with visual and performing arts colleagues. Art Club co-sponsor—held meetings for club members to practice art techniques, engage in art appreciation, and experiment with media not available in classes. Arranged a workshop in oil painting techniques from local Phoenix artist Jay Hardin.
