I currently manage 16 tutors, all of whom have around 40 learners. My role supports the tutors to manage their caseloads effectively, ensuring support is suitable for learners and employers, whilst remaining quality driven and appropriate for a timely achievement. Analyzing management information tools such as PICS and Smart Assessor my role also drives achievement of functional skills across the whole organization. Liaising with other team-leaders, I often have to develop wrap-around intervention for national vocational tutors who may be struggling with their delivery of functional skills, which is a potential threat to a learner’s timely success. This intervention may involve, but is not limited to, online classroom support for learners, revised learning plans to increase visits, encouraging tutors to focus on key topics ensuring learner is contextualized, invigilation support and co-ordination of cross-team support packages. My role also provides quality assurance for all aspects of the learner’s functional skills journey, including induction, initial assessment, teaching, learning, assessment, IAG/progress reviews, resource development, invigilation and testing. I also analyze learner data to apply, monitor and audit learner support funding. Through processes I have helped develop, each of these stages ensures that our delivery consistently meets national standards, awarding body, SFA and OFSTED requirements.

This involved consulting all levels of staff and developing policies and procedures to launch our work-based learning programmes internally and externally. Driving and motivating a team of 6 people (based nationally) to complete learners’ on literacy and numeracy programmes in a timely manner, ensuring all targets and expectations are communicated to the team regularly. This would include but is not limited to financial deadlines, paperwork and funding requirements, health and safety updates and company procedures.
