I latterly worked for the Masters of Public Health on a part time basis, and am continuing to teach Health Systems Challenges in low and middle income countries'. I am interested in taking on consultancies. I am also looking at innovative ways to better support care within the home in the UK and more widely. From 2006 to August 2014 I was the programme manager and then director of a large, distance learning (DL), Masters of Public Health (MPH) and Master of Research (MRes) programme. I ran this programme for eight years and in addition taught 'Qualitative research methods', 'Communicable disease control' and 'Health system challenges in low and middle income countries'.My experience in running a large distance learning programme led me to develop an interest in all aspects of online distance learning. I also developed and ran The University of Manchester first MOOC, 'An Introduction to population health' .Teaching and distance learning enable me to play a part in improving the worlds health. In the 1990's I spent 9 years working on malaria control, mostly in Sub Saharan Africa. Prior to that I spent 2 years as a an isolated rural nurse and midwife in the north of Canada. Both experiences give me a first hand insight into the needs for education, training and professional development for health workers working in isolated and challenging conditions. My clinical background (as a nurse, midwife and practice nurse), combined with my interest in public health, and education, especially distance learning has given me a distinctive skill set. I am always keen to work across boundaries to improve health and education. Show less

I was part of a team supporting the development of online content for a new MSc Global Health and other online programmes. The unique setting of LSTM gave fascinating opportunities for online learning before and then during the C-19 pandemic.
