The project is designed to raise aspirations and employability skills for male and female lone parents over the age of 18 in Salford who, for a variety of reasons, are seeking work and training opportunities for the first time or are returning to employment after a break. Funded by Salford City Council, CASCADE delivers workshops underpinned by one-to-one support. The Project Co-ordinators are able to offer advice and guidance, life coaching, debt and finance support, benefit advice, CV writing and employability skills. Participants may typically have low confidence and a lack of formal qualifications or might be lone parents with child care needs. Many of the participants would not have the confidence to join a college course or a large class of students and CASCADE provides support in a less formal atmosphere, encouraging participants to engage with more confidence with tutors and other agencies.
