      • mai 2020 - sept. 2020

"INTER PARES | Parliaments in Partnership – EU Global Project to Strengthen the Capacity of Parliaments is the first global parliamentary project of its kind. Funded by the EU and implemented by International IDEA, its purpose is to strengthen the capacity of parliaments in partner countries, by enhancing their legislative, oversight, representative, budgetary and administrative functions. It focuses both on elected Members of Parliament (MPs), particularly in their capacity as members of parliamentary committees and on the staff of parliaments' secretariats."I worked with INTER PARES, researching parliament-led youth projects from all over the world, with emphasis on those which truly incorporated young voices into parliamentary decision-making. I complied information on hundreds on youth initiatives from around the world, and made connections with many, such as Undi18 in Malaysia which worked to lower the voting age from 21 to 18 in their country, and the Sámi Youth Parliament in Finland, which works to protect and advocate for young indigenous people in their country. My research and subsequent organization played a key role in the execution of an international workshop held by INTER PARES to discuss the development of effective youth projects globally. My other tasks with INTER PARES included assistance with social media and administration work.

    • Private English Teacher
      • sept. 2019 - mars 2020

I worked as an English teacher to two Spanish boys. They were 8 and 2 so I had to manage two very different teaching situations, but I really enjoyed coming up with inventive ways to make learning fun for children of different ages. The older boy preferred treasure hunts with word-puzzle clues and writing short stories about zombies, whereas the younger boy preferred learning words through music and puzzles of farm animals. I learned the importance of communication and collaborative learning in order to keep children interested.

      • janv. 2019 - mai 2019

During my second year of university I worked two days a week at Seanad Éireann and Dáil Éireann (the upper and lower house of the Irish parliament). I assisted Senator Victor Boyhan with administration, thoroughly fact-checking contact details of more than 900 county councillors, and doing office jobs like photocoping, organising physical correspondance, and running errands.Senator Boyhan saw that I had a passion for the Environment so he organised for me to work with the Green Party. I learned a lot from them about drafting policy, corresponding with constituents and running an election campaign. I worked with them during the lead up to the 2019 Local and European Elections, so I helped them to coordinate their campaign particularly in the area of canvassing, as well as continuing business as usual in the Dáil where I assisted with research, administration and correspondence.
