Workshop Technician for Plus X and “BRITE – Brighton Research Innovation Technology Exchange”, a £10.5 million ERDF-funded innovation programme, providing business support to 115 SMEs in the Coast to Capital region in Sussex.. Implemented a workshop induction and training process in order to provide a safe working environment for members.. Working closely with the BRITE Project Manager to ensure the workshop adheres to funding compliance for the project. . Liaising with suppliers and carrying out procurement when purchasing equipment for the workshop.. Carrying out user research by speaking with members to understand what equipment would be beneficial for their business.. Curated and marketed “Creators Club”, a series of workshop events allowing individuals from all levels and backgrounds to create a variety of products in the makers space. This resulted in more people using the workshop and becoming members of the innovation hub.. Leading introductory workshop tours with a variety of stakeholders, showcasing the first-class machinery available in the workshop. Through these tours I contributed to converting business leads in to members and supporting them with their project and development ideas.. Regular routine maintenance of equipment in the workshop. . In my role as Workshop Technician, I have helped to create 15+ products for members in the innovation hub using laser cutters, 3D printers and CNC milling machines, showcasing the unique benefits of the makers space and realising ideas from prototypes to products for businesses.
