I worked as a nurse at Camp Boggy Creek, a summer camp for children with disabilities or chronic/terminal illnesses. Each week we host a new group of diagnoses including cancer, cardiac, epilepsy, craniofacial, spina bifida, transplant, kidney, JRA, primary and secondary immunodeficiency, GI disorders, hemophilia, asthma and sickle cell. I also finish the discharge instructions and attach informative handouts for the providers. This job requires quick adaptation, ability to work at a fast pace and listening/direction following skills, as well as well developed understanding of medical terminology and patient care.
