Alessandra Eleuteri
I have known Kathy as one of the best, most organized and thorough organic chemist at Chemventures (formerly BioFocus DPI). She has a great understanding of organic chemistry. She is creative, a good problem solver and is always willing to go the extra mile. She successfully completed many tough, challenging projects within strict timelines. She is a very good team player who often has a new perspective on projects that are not easy to be executed
Mike Melnick
I have found Kathy to be a very capable and talented chemist and would highly recommend her. Kathy and I worked together for eight years at Agouron Pharmaceuticals, during that time she was a flexible research colleague, capable of carrying out syntheses on a variety of lengths and scales and was readily able to carry out several syntheses simultaneously. On one project the final compounds were particularly difficult to isolate pure, but Kathy was able to work through this and submit compounds in a timely fashion. In addition, Kathy is a strong team player, willing to do what the project team deemed necessary to push projects forward. Kathy is very dedicated to her work, on more than one occasion I discovered Kathy had come in on the weekend in order to push an important compound through. During the time we worked together, Kathy’s laboratory contributions in my group enabled a number of projects to identify preclinical candidates. She clearly is a

Responsible for the feasibility, synthetic route development and ultimately the final synthesis of small molecule heterocyclic compound libraries for various clients while meeting the purity, quantity, and timeline specifications. 1) When necessary, successfully developed a totally different alterative synthesis to the client’s original suggestion. Implementation of the alternative route resulted in a reduction of the project timeline by several weeks. 2) Due to an unforeseen reduction in force during December 2008, willingly took on the additional responsibility of developing a barcode system for the laboratory supply room which included writing the actual programs (Perl), creating and populating the database (MS-SQL, MySQL),debugging the code, and beta-testing before implementation. Synthetic organic chemist, synthesis, purification characterization of novel inhibitors for various antiviral projects such as: • HCV Polymerase - Extensive use of Biotage to purify intermediates and final targets. Volunteered to take over the scale-up synthesis of a crucial lead compound from a fellow teammate who had experienced difficulty with its preparation. Successfully furnished material in sufficient quantities for PK experiments thus allowing the project team to reach a critical go/no go decision for the series. • HCV Protease -Successful use of Biotage employed to purify both intermediates and final targets. • HIV Protease Rapidly developed a multistep synthesis of a particular subunit and delivered the final target in less than two months from the birth of the idea at a consultant meeting. Synthesized a thorough series of targets which showed enhanced activities. Thorough literature research was initiated for important steps in the sequence. Also scaled up intermediates for other team members as needed. Employed structure-based-drug design as a tool for designing potentially new drug candidates where applicable Show less
