Establishing ecologically appropriate native habitats in areas disturbed by the August 2009 Palos Verde fire to enhance the ecological functions of the adjacent native habitat within the Portuguese Bend Reserve. This was done through -maintaining a plot of land which included native species such as the laurel sumac, California buckwheat, and California sagebrush -improving efficiency by labeling the dri-water systems in the plot of land and replacing the dri water containers in a timely manner -controlling the invasive non-native plants by identifying weeds such as the black mustard, peruvian pepper, and coastal waddle and removing the roots -mitigating the problem of vultures picking out the containers by modifying the dri-water containers and placing them in the ground in a less protrusive way Show less
