Kindness and openness is the phrase that comes to mind when I think about Kathy. I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Kathy for more than a year, during which time she was the editor of Edible Cleveland and also my mentor. I am deeply impressed by her ability to explain a difficult writing task quite effortlessly and the way she manages to get the best out of the person she is working with. She facilitates a writer to bring heart and soul into her writing and allows freedom and space to create a truly beautifully written piece. Therefore, her role as an editor earns my highest recommendation. My very first article with her won a journalism award in Ohio which completely changed my career. Kathy would be a true asset for any writing project. She is a great mentor. Kathy has my fullest and heartfelt recommendation.

I currently am a contributing writer and project editor for special projects and custom publishing through Crain Content Studio. Writing and editing projects span M&A, technology, higher ed, manufacturing, legal affairs, real estate and health care. As a former contributing writer for this award-winning business publication, I handled most of the food, wine and craft beer industry coverage through enterprise print stories and a biweekly blog. Many of these stories generated the highest number of online page views during the weeks in which they were published. While working as assistant editor, I edited and designed the weekly paper, coordinated art selection; worked closely with the sections editor on special section planning and layout; collaborated with the senior editors on story placement; posted stories to the web; designed and edited the custom publishing sections; and managed social media, on top of maintaining the food beat.
