As the Director of Programs for the California Central Coast Chapter, I am responsible for the leadership and oversight of all of the Chapter’s government and foundation grants, implementing the Chapter’s program delivery strategy, and engaging with organizations to encourage community mobilization. My position also manages the California Central Coast Chapter Programs and Services team, which covers San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties, ensuring quality utilization of care & support services and engagement with key decision makers in the community for greater reach to persons living with a dementia diagnosis.

Friendship Center is a fully licensed non-profit adult day services program providing professional, compassionate, affordable care in Southern Santa Barbara County and beyond, through our virtual program. Our mission is to preserve and enrich the quality of life for aging and dependent adults through innovative programs that value the dignity and worth of every person. As the Program Manager, I wear many hats in coordinating services and care for seniors as well as their caregivers. I lead a team of ten in providing specialized, person-centered care to our members. I also oversee all operations at our sites to ensure we comply with our state license and public health requirements. My role includes community outreach and partnership building/ maintaining with local organizations and individuals.During the COVID-19 pandemic, we have pivoted our services to offer all programs, consolations and support via video or tele-programs. My role has expanded in overseeing and providing these vast reaching services and making sure no senior in our community falls through the cracks. The Health Access Care and Coordination (HACC) Project provides health education and wellness programming, coordinates primary and behavioral health care for these expansion members, partners with key healthcare providers to develop educational programs to assist members in more effectively utilizing their health coverage, supports members with scheduling and transportation to health care appointments, and enhances partnerships with community health care and other service providers.As Case Manager for HACC, I am responsible for culturally competent outreach, case management, care coordination and enrollment in Medi-CAL health insurance and with medical providers, as well as for supportive health education and promotion, to the medically under-insured and underserved.

The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is an international organization driven by the vision of a world without malnutrition. My role as a part of the communications team was to act as a liaison between global partner organizations, such as the United Nations and World Health Organizations, as well as the general public. Child Empowerment International (CEI) provides education and experiences for children suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and other challenges related to war trauma and violent experiences.
