Curtin University's Open Knowledge Initiative (COKI) seeks to be the world's leading hub for analysis of open knowledge in higher education: https://openknowledge.community/
I lead the technical team of Data Scientists and Software Developers for the Curtin Open Knowledge Initiative (COKI) project. I work with a vibrant team of humanities research academics, external collaborators, contractors and project partners to deliver a suite of digital infrastructure, tools and datasets that enable evaluation of Open Knowledge practices around the world.
Check out COKI's Open Access website, https://open.coki.ac/, used by institutions and organisations around the world to gain insight into the Open Access performance of countries and institutions.
The Book Analytics Dashboard Project is enhancing the diversity and voices of book publishers across the globe by bridging the analytics gap and taking open-access books to a sophisticated digital future. My primary responsibilities included research and development in Bioinformatics and Health Informatics in client focused Centre projects, including the following:1. A Plant Biosecurity CRC funded project titled ‘Delivery of an integrated Internet-based bioinformatics toolkit for plant biosecurity diagnosis and surveillance of viruses and viroids’. My responsibilities included the development and optimisation of an bioinformatics analysis pipeline, conveying results to and training end users in the use of the pipeline through regular teleconferences and face to face workshops.2. The customisation and deployment of patient registries. My primary responsibilities included client interaction, and managing the creation, optimisation and deployment of registries according to client requirements. Show less

Thesis titled 'From molecules to bird communities- a mistletoe story'. This thesis used a multi-faceted approach to investigate mistletoe:host interactions, mistletoe:bird interactions, and digestive adaptations to a frugivorous diet of mistletoe fruit. 3 papers were published as a result of this research.

I was awarded the 2010 Western Australian Fulbright Scholarship, and spent one year in the Department of Zoology and Physiology at the University of Wyoming as a visiting scholar. Experimental field work (conducted as part of my PhD research) was designed and conducted in Western Australia, and the subsequent samples prepared and taken to the University of Wyoming. Samples were analysed in the Stable Isotopes Facility (SIF) under the supervision of Prof Carlos Martinez del Rio.
