Chillblast is a fast growing, technology business. When I first met Kathryn, I had recently started as FD, Chillblast was in its 3rd year of operation and on track to achieve £ 8m revenue, but there was no intention to set up a fully resourced Finance Dept; instead me and Kathryn as external bookkeeper, were it. I also explained to Kathryn, that I needed someone who required no supervision and had no expectation of working to a routine. From the off, she was up for the challenge and at no time did she show any signs of frustration at the chaos that is typical of an early stage, fast growing business. One year on from our first meeting, I told Kathryn, we were now ready to set up our own Finance function and that all of us wanted her on-board. She respectfully declined; Kathryn wants to continue working for herself and build up her client base. We have now hired someone, who is doing well, largely because Kathryn provided extensive training, before handing over her responsibilities. Kathryn is unfailingly, a high performing, genuine can-do individual, who I cannot rate highly enough.
