Registered Charity Number 1154994 www.dotcomcf.org It is our belief that if children understand what good values are they will make better choices in life. They will make friends with others who have similar values and are less likely to find themselves in risky situations. If they value themselves they will also believe that they can achieve in life and that nobody has the right to hurt them. Dot Com is a cartoon character who helps children learn how to value themselves and others and lead safer lives. She is the character at the centre of a national learning programme which has been created with public funds by former television presenter Sharon Evans (nee Doughty) and her husband Neil Evans, a former Metropolitan Police officer. Their passion for this work comes from Sharon’s experiences of violence and abuse in her childhood and their joint experience of running a homeless hostel for vulnerable families. There are missdorothy Values Journals for years 3 to 6 with a special Values vs Violence journal recommended by the police for year 5. If the programme can only be funded for one year group in the school it is suggested that the Values vs Violence journal is delivered to year 5 pupils. The book helps prepare children for transition to secondary school and gives them information about choices, effects and consequences as they reach the age of criminal responsibility. Show less
