I helped hire Kathleen as the new leader of Thieme Chemistry, and managed her through her first year at the company. She has expert knowledge of all aspects of journals publishing, an excellent network and cares particularly deeply about research integrity. She has driven significant change in the business, which has taken courage, determination and persuasion to win support for her ideas. This is in addition to learning and adjusting to completely new ways of working in a German publishing company. I was very impressed by Kathleen’s strong work ethic and her high levels of grit and follow-through. She is also a great colleague - kind, open, approachable and not afraid to challenge the status quo.

Kathleen is a wonderful publishing professional. She is a dedicated individual with the ability to get to the core of very complex problems to find solutions. She is a superb line manager and is able to lead and guide a team to high levels of productivity, whilst cultivating a culture of co-operation and in doing so, bringing people on-board to her vision. She has substantial knowledge in managing a complex list of high value titles, bringing expertise in financial management, strategic management, business development and project management to her role. I highly recommend her.
