IDG Books Worldwide

  I was the marketing design manager at IDG Books, the publisher of the "For Dummies" and other books. I reviewed all projects for design quality and brand integrity, and also provided hands-on design and production for some projects. I supervised a staff of 3 designers; together we produced catalogs, sell sheets, BLADs, web banners and POS displays. Before becoming the design manager, I was a project manager for the quarterly catalog of technology titles. I hired and supervised designers, copywriters, proofreaders and printers for the production of this 56-page, 4-color catalog. Show less

  My primary responsibility was to solicit bids and oversee printing for all of Kaiser's member communications in California. These projects ranged from 6-color brochures to 1-color flyers to digital banners, and included the 172-page Guidebook sent to each and every member in California. I supervised one employee, the traffic coordinator, and co-managed a team of three designers. I worked with project managers and account people to make sure their projects were printable and cost-effective, and gave training sessions as needed. Show less
