I had the great honor of working with Kathy Ross in her role as the active duty (full-time) senior leader of the Army Reserve medical training team. Our team was called to active duty to support the training of numerous and diverse Army Reserve and National Guard medical units bound for Iraq and Afghanistan. As a reserve officer being called to active duty, I needed to rely heavily on Captain Ross' expertise and sound judgment to assist me in leading a team of approximately 12-15 Officers and Non-commissioned Officers. Her technical knowledge of diverse medical operations and a wide variety of medical units ranging from ground ambulance companies to depot level medical supply units to mental health companies and more was peerless. To the extent that we accomplished our pre-combat operations training mission, it was a testament to her high motivation, insight and counsel.
