I worked the early shift where I verified shipment, opened boxes and then sorted and organized the clothing and accessories. I then placed the merchandise on the sales floor and in the stock room. I also helped keep the stockroom organized. This increased sales as items were often needed quickly for a customer. KID'swap!
-
Denville, NJ
-
Owner/Manager
-
Feb 1997 - Jul 2009
I started KID'swap!, a trendsetting, eco-friendly children's consignment and retail store in 1997 in Denville, NJ. KID'swap! was one of the first independent consignment stores to use a computerized point of purchase system. This alone raised the bar and set it apart from competitors. The store also sold in demand new merchandise, such as Beanie Babies, Webkinz and other popular toys and collectibles. Standards for merchandise, displays and over-all store presentation were high. After 11 years of growth and expansion, I sold the business and trademark name. It was great to be part of the community. KID'swap! was a member of the Denville Chamber of Commerce. It took part in Children's Shopping Night, the Holiday Open House, the Rotary Street Festival and donated many baskets to local school and church tricky trays. KID'swap! also donated money to Denville PAL and items to the Market Street Mission in Morristown. I was named an Angel in Disguise for donating clothes, toys, books and children's equipment to families in Newark. Show less

I was hired by Continental Airlines to service the SAS (Scandinavian Airlines) contract. I checked in and verified customers identification; including passports and visas for international travel. I coordinated customer boarding and deplaning; made boarding announcements, changed seat assignments, and assisted special needs passengers. When the contract ended, I worked at the Continental domestic counter where I booked reservations, issued tickets and checked in passengers. During my last two years at Continental, I also worked full time at my retail business, KID'swap! Show less

I started working at DWJ after graduating from Rider University with a business degree. As it was a small company, I had the opportunity to work in different departments and be promoted. I wrote and produced corporate video news releases which aired on television stations across the United States. I wrote and produced the Merck employee news show which was shown at company headquarters I scheduled and tracked projects including editors, graphic artists and editing suites. I hired on-camera and voiceover talent. I scheduled messengers who delivered products to the clients on time. One of the first jobs I took on was cataloging the video library which saved the company time and money. Show less
