It was a pleasure to work with Katherine over the course of 18 months at Hapa, where, as the first official full-time employee of our emerging firm, she took the lead on many significant projects. As designer and project manager for Richmond Cultural Centre Roof Garden, the Olympic Oval Signage Podium, Mid-Main Park, Kawaki Boatworks Park, River’s Edge Park and many others, she played a crucial role in the design and conceptualization of these works and guided the process with a thoughtful attitude, critical eye and clear environmental ethic. She also cultivated a strong artful style in her illustrations and renderings – as demonstrated in several graphics for award-winning competition projects – and brought an excellent design sensibility to our proposals and promotional content. She was also very effective at integrating academic and internship research into her projects, including applying public space design principles from her experience at Jan Gehl Architects to the McBurney Lane site analysis and design conceptualization process. Overall we are very pleased to have Katherine at Hapa in our first formative months of our practice, and feel quite privileged to have had her as an employee and colleague. We are very excited about Katherine`s interest in landscape art and public art installation work and we are certain that we will hear great things from her public art work in the very near future.

I am grateful to have spent the fall quarter of my final year of graduate school learning from world leaders in urban quality consulting, Gehl Architects. From their office in Copenhagen, I created the methodology booklet, "Neighborhoods for People," a how-to guide to applying Gehl principles to urban design in Seattle. I also produced graphics for various public space projects implemented around the world.
