After working at EV for 4 months, I was offered the position of Marketing Coordinator. I stepped up to the challenge. Since then, I've been managing our outgoing engineering proposals, creating content for our website, designing posters and brochures for our staff to use at career fairs and conferences, organizing events, and starting Marketing Plans for each of our three offices. Every day brings a new learning experience, and I enjoy finding creative ways to succeed in my new job.In the summer of 2019, I organized a design project for Engineering Ventures 25th Year Anniversary - a custom can label for Switchback Brewery's classic ale. I set up meetings with the leaders at Switchback and coordinated with my team before getting to work on the design. Time was of the essence - I had to purchase 720 cans of beer, finish designing the label, send the design to our label vendor, make sure the proof was accurate to my vision, and label all 720 cans on my own in under a month. In between all of these tasks, I had to approve the design with my superiors and ensure that everyone was okay with the product and our budget. Our two Open Houses were my responsibility as well. I organized invitations to all of our clients and began preparing for the events. I prepared event schedules, coordinated timelines with a photographer, a baker and a caterer, and divvied out tasks to our staff on the day of both events. The events were successful, and our clients were pleased with the results.I am also continuing to assist my coworkers with various admin tasks that I had taken over during my time as Administrative Assistant. Answered phone calls, organized files in current folders as well as archives, assisted with on-boarding new employees, facilitated new project set-up in our database, added project descriptions into our database, ran errands. I assisted our Marketing professional with pulling together materials for their proposals.I was a member of the IT committee, and during this time I created our Master Computer Spreadsheet. This document includes the computer name, who it is assigned to, how much the computer cost, and what engineering programs it has on it. I was in charge of setting up computers at employees desks. I also managed the design, purchase, and installation of sound attenuation panels in our conference rooms, part of the jurisdiction of the committee.I have also worked closely with our Human Resources department planning staff events. We have monthly potlucks, a staff picnic, and a spring retreat. Show less

Special Events Leader of the Academic Resource Center. I was in charge of larger events that interns at the NMNH could participate in over the course of the summer. The largest event, Morning at the Museum, had over 150 participants from across the Smithsonian. I coordinated with many facets of the National Museum of Natural History to ensure the event was a success, including the Security Manager at NMNH and the Director of Fellowships and Internships at the Smithsonian. Other events included a screening of Night at the Museum 2 open to all interns, after hours talks with staff, Lunch and Learn conversations and Conversations with Executive Staff, a field trip to Calvert Cliffs in Maryland, and cupcake thank you party at the end of the summer.
