Promoting Oxford Castle and Prison as a heritage tourism venue and visitor attraction across a variety of channels and increasing awareness of the unique and fascinating history of the site and its long association with key events in the life of the city and role in shaping the wider history of England for over 1000 years. Maintaining strong connections with educational providers, detailing the structured educational sessions and costumed tours tailored to the National Curriculum which are on offer and increasing the number of English Language schools visiting the site as part of their cultural enhancement activities whilst studying in Oxford. Connecting with local history and archaeology societies, TICs and U3A groups to promote group visits and outreach education opportunities and running education workshops for visiting school groups and managing site visits for corporate and community partners. Creating a network of contacts across the heritage tourism and leisure sectors to increase visitor numbers and promote the range of events and experiences available at Oxford Castle and Prison from ghost walking tours to murder mystery evenings, holiday activities to private corporate hire and parties. Selling private hire space both via email and face-to-face with clients via site visits. Collaborating with hotels, local businesses, conference organisers and coach tour operators to promote the site and increase bookings and negotiating new partnerships to enhance the range of events we host. Thinking creatively to maximize opportunities to showcase the site and enhance visitor experience. It is such a privilege to be promoting this historically significant site and to share the story of the people who lived and died within its walls and to ensure that the site is preserved and protected for future generations as well as appreciated and enjoyed by visitors today. • Art Gallery Manager
      • Jan 2004 - Mar 2022

Responsible for all aspects of running a large contemporary art gallery including sales negotiation, working with artists and suppliers, hanging exhibitions and day-to-day accounts. Preparing and planning for art fairs and external events to showcase the gallery and our artists. Packing and shipping artwork internationally to ensure safe and prompt delivery. Administering two websites including writing a blog covering current exhibitions and featured artists. Offering high levels of customer service, promoting the work of our artists and undertaking art consultancy work with clients in order to find the right pieces for their individual taste and budget. I particularly enjoy the aesthetic process of hanging an exhibition to maximise the beauty of the work and ensure that our artists are viewed in the best possible environment and listening to clients to understand what they are searching for and achieving a perfect match for them. This is hugely satisfying. Processing Own Art loan applications Managing websites and online orders Creating social media content on several platforms to increase brand presence, SEO and promote artwork and sculpture Working with the Affordable Art Fair to organise all aspects of exhibiting at Battersea and Hampstead Daily accounting for the business on Xero and in-house systems Undertaking online courses to expand my knowledge of gallery and museum work and Art History (I have a Diploma in Art History, Passed with Distinction) Show less
