Relocation to Vancouver, Canada.

May 2019 - Jan 2020
My partner & I voluntarily relocated to Canada from Christchurch, NZ mid 2019. We decided to settle in Vancouver after taking some time to travel & visit immediate family residing here in Canada. After a well deserved break, I am now actively looking for new opportunities as an Environmental Professional in the Resource Sector. Open to FTC as well as full-time permanent roles. Environment Canterbury is a local government body, which facilitates and enforces sustainable development and practices in the Canterbury region of New Zealand. Here I investigated applications for resource permits and delivered assistance, advice and guidance enabling the community to understand and engage in the resource management process. Experienced in multiple sectors; water abstraction, land use & discharges in rural and urban settings. •Prepared concise and well-reasoned reports through research & technical analysis, ensuring there was an accurate description of the scale & significance of any anticipated environmental effects relating to a proposal. •Interpreted and applied the relevant provincial and federal planning regulations & rules for each permit application. •Collaborated and problem-solved with a diverse range of disciplined specialists, environmental consultants and internal and external stakeholders to achieve effective, compliant and sustainable outcomes for the environment. •Experienced in leading and participating in facilitation and conflict resolutions with Indigenous groups, stakeholders and communities. •Participated in creating mitigation for permits, minimising adverse effects on the environment. •Communicated clear and correct advice to applicants and environmental consultants prior to permit lodgement and during the permit process. •Attended drop-in sessions to engage and inform the community and industry groups of current rules & regulations. •Gave support and mentored other team members. Trained new employees, familiarised them with the organisations systems & procedures as well as provide constructive feedback on reports. •Coordinated and processed multiple permit applications at a time, ensuring deadlines & budgets were met. •Key advisor for permits relating to works within and around waterways, this included, facilitating and supporting training initiatives and remaining current with technical developments & policy changes.
