The 1st Conference for the Future was panel discussion hosted by the the EU in which citizens from all European countries were invited to discuss and offer suggestions on pressing matters that affect the Union. The conclusion of these discussions are used to inform future decisions the European Union will take. Duties involved assisting the facilitators and organizing team for the duration of the event. Specifically, in the general plenary meetings this would involve being a point of information for the invited participants and guests, conversing in multiple languages and functioning as an unofficial translator, leading to a lot of on the spot and quick thinking. When in smaller plenary sessions (substreams), the role required aiding the lead facilitator in moderating the discussion while simultaneously making detailed and coherent notes of participants’ recommendations to the EU, broadcasting the process through different channels to enable the official translation of the process, as well as creating overall summaries for the daily briefing sessions. This role was invaluable in exposing me to new environments and technologies as I can now adjust to new situations and developments with ease. Show less
