As an intern at the Bioregional Center, I worked on coordinating a GIS Tree Mapping project using crowdsourced data from undergraduate students. I also assisted on writing, research, and administrative tasks related to the Alianza project and Advancing Green Infrastructure for Learning and Equity (AGILE) as part of the UC Global Food Initiative. The Alianza project is an effort to create a tri-national climate action plan between the US, the Kumeyaay, and Mexico for the Calibaja Bioregion. The AGILE project conducts research on green infrastructure feasibility in San Diego, with a focus on enhancing produce access and educational outcomes. TRELS is a merit-based summer research scholarship for independent undergraduate research projects. For my TRELS project, I designed and completed a GIS analysis of in-migration patterns to New Hampshire over a 15 year period and created a regression model to assess if there was an association between the level of climate change impact risk (per the National Risk Index) and the amount of out-migration to New Hampshire (per IRS Tax Filing Relocation data).

    • Volunteer Research Assistant, Climate Psychology and Action Lab
      • Nov 2021 - Jul 2022

The Climate Psychology Action Lab at UCSD explores the psychological features of climate change to better understand what drives climate action, complacency, and denial. As a volunteer, I assisted on qualitative interviewing and survey project assessing legacy trade-union members' beliefs about climate change and conception of how electrification policies would impact them. This project reflects the CPAL's action-oriented approach to social science research. For more info on the Climate Psychology Action Lab: https://climate.ucsd.edu/ Show less

    • Climate Action Scholars Program
      • Jan 2022 - Jun 2022

The Climate Justice/Action/Resilience Scholars is a bidirectional learning and research program at UC San Diego immersing students in environmental activism and research in San Diego. I was 1 of 25 students accepted to the inaugural class of the Climate Justice Action Scholars program. I engaged in hands-on, collaborative, community-based learning, and research pertaining to the climate crisis and San Diego communities and produced two final projects. The first was a report, called "Climate Induced Migration and the Rise of the Far Right" explored how climate change and particularly climate migrants are framed in far right political movements, both currently and historically. The second was a mapping project in which we created an assessment tool for seeing sustainability on a street-level. Using this tool we assessed and mapped assets in the South Park neighborhood of San Diego. Show less
