Establishing and managing day to day plant sales in One Garden Brighton, providing a commercial retail outlet within a Georgian Walled Garden which includes a farm shop and cafe and plant sales nursery. One Garden Brighton is a new limited company which is wholly a subsidiary of Plumpton College. Leading and supervising plant production (including planning and scheduling) and acquisition of stock for plant sales. Liaising with teaching staff to ensure student and apprentice involvement with in house production can be maximised whilst still meeting their specific curriculum criteria for assessment. Supervising and motivating volunteers to carry out nursery production/plant sales tasks to very best practice standards. Working with the Senior Gardener to identify and maximise seasonal highlights growing within the garden and linking/interpreting to plant sales areas and displays. Driving plant sales forward with consistently high retail standards, monitoring and evaluating sales and identifying opportunities for in house growing and production. Working closely with the Senior Gardener regularly auditing and monitoring stock levels and reporting to the Commercial Manager as required. Assisting with edible and ornamental crop production using new technologies and automated growing systems. Continually keeping up to date with plant trends and growing technologies both to add to visitor enlightenment and student learning. Ensuring plant sales are situated firmly within the visitor experience, being available to answer queries, give advice, suggest plants and planting schemes as required.
