  As a judicial intern at the Edmund D Edelman Children's Court, I was tasked with implementing a new filing system for blanket orders. I conducted legislative research, and maintained an up to date file on changing juvenile legislation. I reviewed two research petitions and authored recommendations to the judge. I also evaluated petitions that requested access to juvenile records and redacted all confidential information. During my time as an intern, I was fortunate to be exposed to various aspects of the legal system, from the administrative and clerical side to the more dynamic aspects. For example, in addition to filing paperwork, I also toured both the Los Angeles County Jail, a juvenile detention facility, sat in on multiple dependency court proceedings and one juvenile court hearing, and was able to witness some of the judicial meetings. This experience helped me develop the passion I now have for the legal system, and the desire I have to work hard to help better the city we live in. Show less
