Kate taught me throughout my years as an acupuncture student at The City College of Acupuncture and I’m very lucky to say that since I graduated I am part of her supervision group. Kate is passionate about what she does and transmits this passion to her students and mentorees. She is extremely generous with her knowledge and thanks to her years of experience, guides us through any of our concerns with clarity, honesty and patience. I highly recommend Kate’s supervision group – you will feel totally supported and will learn a lot. It is very reassuring to know I always have this group to go to for questions that like-minded people will understand and not judge. We also have a good laugh.

Kate is an exceptional acupuncturist with a holistic and wise approach. I have been seeing Kate for years and I trust her implicitly. More recently I have needed a gentle re-introduction to acupuncture following a long period of ill-health. Kate has been so patient and has re-introduced acupuncture slowly and carefully in a way that has made me feel safe and cared for. Kate is professional, compassionate, wise and approachable and I highly recommend her.

      - I have worked as a private practitioner in two GP practices for the length of my experience - My longest standing practice is in the small village where I live - The second has been at a large seven partner GP practice in Harpenden - My style of practice has been very much to integrate with the GPs and other health professionals, presenting my work to them frequently for information purposes and to foster sound working links - I audit my practice informally and allow them to hear my views on what we can offer our patients. - After repeated attempts I was successful at setting up a Maternity Acupuncture Unit. - Worked closely with the maternity team to navigate the administration of the NHS, this low-cost service was set up as a multi-bed provision in the Day Assessment Unit, one night a week for pregnancy and one night a week for infertility. - Over two years of this established unit yielded highly promising results. - I worked closely with another senior acupuncturist and employed four further acupuncturists. - Responsible for employing the staff, supervising the team and meeting weekly with the Head of Midwifery. - Worked for five years with a team of eight physios at a busy sports clinic in Welwyn Garden City. - Established a successful private clinic and offered regular paid CPD to the physios who practiced acupuncture within their remit. - This role served as an introduction to my teaching work with TCM as I had to skilfully teach them safe practice within their scope of experience and set up an appropriate referral model for complicated patients. - This was invaluable training at recognising the limits of acupuncture and teaching safe practice, point location and needling skills.
