INVESTMENT (buy-side) - Co-lead on developing CDC’s microfinance sector investment strategy across Africa and South Asia - Evaluation of new investment opportunities including conducting financial analysis, modelling and stress testing of business plans, consideration of appropriate deal structure, and assessment of valuation and investment returns - Conducted on-site due diligences of microfinance institutions - Negotiated with management, companies, legal teams and other investors on investment agreements and other aspects of deal execution - Prepared and presented material on opportunities to the Investment Committee - Approval for 11 equity, fund, and debt deals totalling US$290m: including lead role on Tier 2 debt (US$50m) and equity transactions (US$30m) PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT - Co-management of historic portfolio of 11 global investments (3 holding companies and 8 funds) totalling US$275m as well as new portfolio of 5 investments totalling US$131m - Participation on fund Advisory Committees and shareholder representative for two holding companies - Prepared periodic reports to monitor financial and strategic performance and development impact - Supported two Indian Microfinance Institutions as they were awarded in -principle licences and transitioned to Small Finance Banks - Supported an equity investment through an IPO in April 2016 for US$323m, which was 17x oversubscribed and provided CDC with an unrealised IRR of 44% (58% after the first day of trading) - CDC lead on the two year transformation of Advans SA’s company structure including the process of integration and acquisition of a consulting company, a capital increase, and renegotiation of the shareholder’s agreement and employee stock ownership plan - Represented CDC on international panels, conferences and roundtables on microfinance investment, development, and client protection issues, including the Social Performance Task Force
