Competition & Operations Manager
-
Jun 2018 - May 2019
During my time at FootballFix, I independently created a partner business called NitroNetball, a mixed-netball league and event company. Using the client database from FootballFix, alongside the implementation of multiple on-the-ground marketing strategies, NitroNetball's first league hosted 10 teams. Key Skills & Responsibilities included: - Development of policies and procedures, including venue operations, health & safety protocol, workforce management, payment policy and escalation procedures. - Ensuring existing regulations and procedures were adhered to and aligned with other venues. - Ongoing risk assessments of venues and equipment. - Logistical planning (including bump-in and bump-out operations) across multiple venues - Financial and budget planning - Complex workforce management, including venue management, clients, referees and officials. - Working closely with emergency services when needed to ensure a cohesive and coordinated response. - Excellent communication, co-operation and integration amongst all key stakeholders My biggest achievement in this role was the successful formation of the 'Battle of the Businesses' tournament, a multiple-week mixed netball event. To increase visibility and client growth for the company, I reached out to international businesses including PwC, KPMG, ASB and Westpac to enter the tournament. Post-event, NitroNetball attracted enough customers to host 2 leagues, and turned a substantial profit for the company. Customer relations were developed, managed and nurtured to ensure an increase in involvement and retention. 3 years later, the company has expanded across multiple venues, hosts competitions on multiple nights, and is still successful to this day. This was not only a project to enhance the company and it's profits, but was fundamental to my self-development and allowed me to push myself out of my comfort zone, which I something I thrive to continuously do. As a small company of 7 colleagues, effective and cooperative communication was required to manage and resolve issues faced to ensure the smooth running of our 1,500-strong athlete programme across 15 venues. Habitual reporting back to the central operations team was vital to ensure alignment of responsibilities and coherent delivery. Key Skills & Responsibilities included: - Remaining the key point of contact for all concerns when on-site. - Refining my ability to work under pressure, meet strict deadlines and be proactive. - Providing leadership and support to new contractors that joined the business (inc. referees, umpires, venue coordinators) - Supporting the security operations of each venue, feedback concerns to management and provide security input when required. - Team and player management on and off the field of play, including conflict resolution.
