    • General Manager
      • Sep 1990 - Sep 2013

Kate Culter is the General Manager of Medinet, a British Columbia based software and support organization. She is primarily responsible for business development, communications, and maintaining key health authority relationships. As well, Kate oversees all aspects of the company including research and product development, project management, account management, human resources, marketing, privacy and financial planning. Kate has been working in the health care industry for 24 years. She got her start implementing electronic lab report distribution in BC physician offices, which began 1989. It was a very big challenge in the early days to get technology adoption in the medical field, and as a result, she has an intimate knowledge of the change management challenges facing health authorities, their physician clients, and population they serve. In 1999, Kate and her team worked closely with the Ministry of Health to be the first vendor to introduce Access to PharmaNet. Subsequently, her company is now the leading provider of medication history software in the province, and Kate is an expert in the field of medication reconciliation. Kate believes that software in the medical community should be designed with the patient in mind, and be easy to use, because our health care workers have enough challenges in their professional lives without technology adding clutter to their workload. Currently, Kate and her team are working to reinvent communication in physician offices and health authorities with the introduction of Medinet Mail, secure email. Apparently, no challenge is too big--even if it means getting people to move away from their trusted telephones and fax machines! When not consumed by Medinet business, Kate volunteers for the YWCA mentorship program and has a keen interest in personal development and business networking.
