Australian Research Council PhD Scholarship to qualitatively explore over time the lived experiences of people living with HIV (PLHIV) in regional Queensland. Working alongside the HIV positive community (Queensland Positive People; Positive Directions) and state government to explore the lived experiences of PLHIV at an intersection of ageing, social isolation and access to services in regional Queensland. PhD focus: the role of social networks and support systems in the management of long-term HIV in regional Queensland. Two-year long primary data collection in regional Queensland. Adapting various qualitative longitudinal research methods to capture and analyse the data: collaborating with the research group in the UK to enhance the quality of methods employed in PhD study and to archive the longitudinal data. Acting as project coordinator to a number of studies conducted in the United States and Zimbabwe funded by the Centres of Disease Control and Prevention and the Unicef, employing various study designs. Preparing statements of work, tracking study progress, applying for ethics approvals, writing interim reports, convening and facilitating meetings among study partners across various settings and time zones. Part of an evaluation team conducting a process evaluation of a federally-funded intervention targeting providers’ and patients’ behaviours to improve the screening rate for colorectal cancer among average-risk patients. Four month-long qualitative data collection in two states across 21 primary health clinics: site observations and interviews with physicians; assisting in qualitative data analysis and results dissemination.
