The job started as the bachelor internship on the marine engineering study and I was hired to finish it when I graduated, since it was not possible to complete it within the internship. The work included developing a testing method which aimed to confirm expected positive aspects of a new electrical distribution concept from ABB that allowed for variable speed operation of Diesel electric CAT propulsion engines and also carrying out the test onboard the ship. I was in charge of developing the tests, planning and executing the tests on board the vessel. The technology will be the future standard for diesel electric propulsion vessels, as large reductions in fuel consumption, noise and operational costs were verified.
