RETO aims to introduce people to computers and the internet in rural areas of Pakistan. We believe whether it is Minimalintrusive education like the Hole-in-the-wall experiment in India or more guided programs such as UNESCO's SchoolNet, in the long-term, computers open up a world of possibilities which are of even more value to the rural as compared to urban populations. Taking advantage of technology, we guide students to a point where they themselves become their own teachers. The pilot project is being carried out in two schools in Tando Jam Sindh, where we have placed 30 computers and given access to around 700 students from class 3-7. In a place where only showing children the possibilities of Google could create a difference, a program which goes a little further and shows the possibilities presented by the computer and internet can make a significant impact.
