A new digital publication supported by the NUI Galway Art Society, this fashion, arts, and culture publication tackles everything from editorial photoshoots and art to short stories and news articles on social topics. I assisted with the planning, writing, and editing of articles, as well as the design of the first edition. We recently put on a highly successful event in order to fund the physical publication of our second edition. A respected, long-standing university publication, ROPES seeks to publish fresh, unique writing from both emerging and established writers. The proceeds from the journal's sales are donated to a charity every year, with our charity of choice being COPE Galway. Our edition this year included work from Nuala O'Connor and Claire Hennessy, as well as an interview with the women of Tramp Press. I personally took on as many responsibilities as possible in order to get a comprehensive understanding of the publishing process. I often networked through the various literary events put on in Dublin, and I participated in commissioning, the selection of pieces, and initial and final proofreading. I also helped manage our social media feeds, designed and created copy for promotional materials, and worked with distribution, wherein I was able to get our journal stocked at a popular independent shop in Dublin.
