My work spans the breadth of the organization's many campaigns – but focus specifically on PFAW's fight to reimagine public safety in America. We're organizing in several cities to create new and better systems than antiquated police departments. Radcliffe Research Partner
-
Aug 2021 - Apr 2022
Research Partner to Dr. Mélanie Lamotte, Radcliffe Fellow 2021-22. Freedom in Chains: The Material Life of Slaves in the Early Modern French Atlantic and Indian Oceans. Dr. Lamotte's first book project examines the development of racial categories in early modern French colonial discourses and policies across the Atlantic and the Indian Ocean, and assesses the impact of this development on social relations. Lamotte's second book project examines the material life of the enslaved across the early modern French empire, thereby reconstructing the cultural, social, economic and political experiences of slave communities. In addition to learning more about the state of the field, as a research partner, I am responsible for editing the first book project and checking references in the footnotes. I am also helping to conduct preliminary research for the second book project, writing literature reviews, based on key publications in the field.
