Plans, directs, and coordinates attendance procedures in accordance with School Board Policy while complying with all Colorado Compulsory Attendance Laws. Maintains uniform procedures throughout our County. Designs individual Truancy Intervention Plans for students when attendance violations occur. Provides assistance to families by making referrals to the proper support agencies when deemed necessary. Represents the School District in Family Court cases involving truancy or any transfer of a public school student to The District. Compiles all legal documentation and presents all truancy cases in Family Court. Schedules, files, and presents these cases before the judge. Completes family assessments and makes recommendations to Family Court on each case. Monitors pupil classifications, enrollment and attendance records in each school for accuracy to obtain maximum funding for each student. Processes unexcused Absence Reports by implementing District Intervention Plans which include letters and phone calls to the family and when necessary making a visit, or schedule a visit to the home to assess the families needs and determine the best solution in providing the student with a proper education through the scheduling of a truancy hearing with the Directors of The Office Of Discipline and Attendance. Makes contact with any needed support agencies for the family and develops a case management approach using our commanded resources. Assists the probation officer or the assistant deputy district attorney in arranging for the appearance of school personnel who are key witnesses at Juvenile Court process. Conducts district wide workshops to keep staff apprised of any updates to Colorado Compulsory Attendance Law, Board Policy, or department procedures. Files an annual report with the superintendent summarizing school year activities, findings and recommendations regarding truants. Serves as a member of the dropout prevention committee, and Task Force.
