Development of HotSnail was a personal challenge with a friend to create a fully automated and accountable business around the process of personal and business mail management. The goal is to provide a scaleable solution that can be operated by anybody without requirement of cognitive processes beyond mechanical skill to operate the straight forward software, the scanner hardware and file documents. Upon entry to the market we saw changes in competitors strategies to incorporate the solutions and plans we were able to offer our customers, effectively changing the existing market in this field. HotSnail continues to develop this system and aims to change the way current paper based mail is delivered and managed for as long as it remains.

I am really excited to be going back to my roots and getting my hands back on the tools, so to speak. I enjoy high-level engagement but I work with IT because I love technology and in my own way, working is playing. My role takes me from boardroom meetings, consultation and system analysis to architecture, design, documentation and agile project management. The Kanban is setup, the works issued to relevant contractors, for my part of the development the headphones go on and I start building, this is my happy place.I look forward to going to work every day and practising what I love, and doing so with a great team!

Sometimes life throws you a curve ball and when a great opportunity presents itself, even though you had never really considered it before, assess the risk, take a leap of faith and before long you might find yourself thinking that it was always meant to be part of the plan.This extremely well timed opportunity took the form of a projects team with a proven history of delivering the best operating theatre lights, pendants and tables in the business. A new product was added to their catalogue called the Tegris, a server based video routing and integration system which ultimately lead to my employment.Rather than disposing of my experience and certification across a broad IT history, I leveraged it to provide my Maquet project team with the IT experience and the ability to speak with tomorrows IT decision makers, IT Project Managers and Solution Architects at eye level right throughout the integration planning and installation phases of new digital integration projects.Whilst the position is less technical than my previous positions, I have an instrumental role in engineering technical aspects of some very cool technology ensuring quality and performance is delivered on each project to the highest possible standard. The technology includes video routing, streaming, video conferencing as well as table, light and air-conditioning control. Its not unusual to be invited to a surgical procedure in the operating theatre where the magic happens, and the payoff for all the planning and work, when you see how the systems you build assist in a process which has such a positive impact on peoples lives, and its great to be part of that.So far the new project team has had some big wins and I am feeling right at home.
